Today, I took a long walk around the mall. It was cold and my knee was acting up some, but I wanted to pay my respects, especially to the Vietnam Vets.

The verse I chose today starts the section, Coming of the Holy Spirit.  I was at the Vietnam Memorial when I read it and took the picture featured. This is all part of my journey through the Bible and I respect these veterans with the utmost respect. I often think I was born too late, I think I would have been more suited being born 20 years prior.

This song from 1984 really made an impact on me and gave me some perspective as to how I felt some of the Vietnam Vets must have felt, Born in the U.S.A by Bruce Springsteen.

Got in a little hometown jam
So they put a rifle in my hand
Sent me off to a foreign land
To go and kill the yellow man

I had a brother at Khe Sanh fighting off the Viet Cong
They’re still there, he’s all gone
He had a woman he loved in Saigon
I got a picture of him in her arms now

Born in the U.S.A
I was born in the U.S.A
I was born in the U.S.A
I was born in the U.S.A
Born in the U.S.A

Thanks be to God for our Vietnam Vets!

Cheers from the District of Columbia,
Solo Mon
