Day 0017: ‘Tall-SA’

2018 FEB 24 – Isaiah 1:17

Learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression, bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow’s cause. (ESV)

Today, I drove to Tulsa for the night. I like ‘Tall-sa’ as Route 66, the Mother road, runs through it. I have a connection with the Mother Road as I drove it from Chicago to LA a few years ago and Steinbeck’s book, The Grapes of Wrath, started near here.

If there is one write I respect is Steinbeck and his way of telling a story by being as raw as can be. Also, his method of portraying a situation so that the reader can think about what just happened is amazing. I believe in the Grapes of Wrath, Steinbeck did a good job of seeking justice and working toward correcting an oppression.

This version of Route 66, by Nat King Cole is an oldie but goodie.

If you ever plan to motor west,
Travel my way, take the highway that is best.
Get your kicks on Route sixty-six.
It winds from Chicago to LA,
More than two thousand miles all the way.
Get your kicks on Route sixty-six.

Now you go through Saint Looey
Joplin, Missouri,
And Oklahoma City is mighty pretty.
You see Amarillo,
Gallup, New Mexico,
Flagstaff, Arizona.
Don’t forget Winona,
Kingman, Barstow, San Bernardino.

If you ever get the chance, get in a car, and get your kicks on Route 66.
